GOOD VIBES - Teen With Down Syndrome Scores Touchdown On Senior Night

Every weekday Shawn Patrick sheds some light on some good news with His Good Vibes Story. Here is today's...

A North Carolina high school student with Down syndrome got the chance to run for a touchdown in last week’s game and he went for it. Sam Jordan has served as the manager for the Lake Norman High School football team for the last four years, but he took to the field ahead of kickoff on Senior Night and scored a touchdown.

Sam’s mom, Greta, says they reached out to the coaches to see how Sam could be a part of Senior Night with the other seniors and the teams and coaches made it happen. They not only let him be a part of it, they gave him the opportunity to shine. The video of Sam scoring has gone viral and the proud mom calls it a “beautiful sight of inclusion.”

After his touchdown, Sam’s teammates and players on the opposing team cheer and congratulate him, even lifting him into the air in celebration. The teen says the “awesome” moment was “the best thing that ever happened to me.”
