Jimmy Buffet is Going to Open a Retirement Community

I never wanted to get old... Until now!

On Friday, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville company announced construction on a chain of "Margaritaville"-themed senior-living communities that will combine beaches, booze, fitness facilities, and live entertainment.

"It's going to be a very fun place," says Bill Bullock, senior vice president at Minto Communities, which is partnering with Margaritaville on the project.

The first golf cart-friendly community, Latitude Margaritaville, is expected to cost $1 billion and will open for business in Daytona Beach in late summer of 2018.

Those interested in purchasing the community's two- and three-bedroom homes, priced between "the very low $200,000s to $350,000," must be aged "55 and better," Bullock adds.
